Al D. Eakes BIO
Al Eakes has been involved in the music business since 1967. His first performing band, “The Sound of ‘69” did shows with many industry professionals such as Minnie Pearl, Jack Greene, and Johnny Cash. He continued playing with his band and attended college to major in music. Al became a Congressional Page for the Honorable Joe L. Evins from Tennessee in 1972 and in 1973 he was honored to play his 12-string Alvarez for President Nixon at the ceremony for the lighting of the National Christmas Tree. Shortly after this, Al obtained security clearance with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The “Sound of 69”, after personnel changes, became known as “Justin Case” and then “Legacy” and was for several years booked on weekends for three months in advance touring the mid-south region.
As a result of the security clearances required to play for the White House and serve as a page, Al was able to obtain other clearances including: Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, United States Treasury and State Departments, as well as Scotland Yard. Additionally he served as the personal driver for Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal Princess Anne of England in 1985.
Al’s musical skills and connections led him to the position of tour driver and subsequently to tour manager. He toured with such acts as David Frizzell, Deborah Allen, Doc Severinsen and The Tonight Show Band, Sid Caesar and the Buddy Greco Quintet, and the RCA Tour which featured Keith Whitley, K. T. Oslin, Joe Galante, Restless Heart and Randy Goodman. During his touring days, one of Al’s passengers was Marc Ball, who was the C.E.O. of Scene Three, Inc., which eventually was his entry into the film business. In 1988, Al left the road and began working for Marc Ball and Kitty Moon (vice-president of Scene Three) as their Personal Assistant. He quickly moved on to become an intern in the Studio of Scene Three where he was able to learn all aspects of the film business. Al became the Studio Manager and then the Facilities Manager which entailed responsibility for overseeing fourteen vehicles and five buildings. From the Studio, Al moved to the Scene Three Office to become Production Coordinator.
In 1994, Al left Scene Three and formed his own company – Spotted AL ProductionS (SAP). Al’s vision for SAP was to provide the most up-to-date equipment, technology, and services to clients without the overhead. This vision allowed SAP to keep the local equipment, camera houses and crews working independently at an increased profit. Through SAP, Al has specialized in putting out unexpected ‘fires’ quickly. Spotted AL ProductionS and other experience gained in the film and music industry have enabled Al to work in numerous capacities including: 1st Assistant Director, 2nd Assistant Director, Producer, Production Manager, Production Coordinator, Assistant Production Manager, Assistant Production Coordinator, Location Manager, Location Scout, Facilities Manager, Studio Manager, Art Director, Assistant Art Director, Talent Coordinator, Assistant Talent Coordinator, Key Grip, Best Boy Grip, Dolly Grip, Grip, Guest Grip, Gaffer, Electric, Best Boy Electric, Construction Foreman, Key Production Assistant, Production Assistant for all Departments, Driver, Editor, Special F/X Assistant, Picture Car Wrangler, Car Wrangler, Cable Puller, Assistant Casting Director, Talent Wrangler, Assistant Talent Wrangler, Transportation Captain, Transportation Manager, Transportation Coordinator, Photographer, Production Stills, Craft Services and Intern.
