Todd Culberhouse BIO With over 27 years of executive experience in music publishing, business affairs, artist and business management, production, A&R and much, much more, music veteran Todd Culberhouse is one of the most influential and well-respected power brokers in the music and entertainment industries. As Head of the Music Division and Head of A&R for Pioneer Entertainment, where he’s responsible for the success of projects by artists CeCe Winans, Ray Charles, Peter Frampton, Oleta Adams, John Digweed/Bedrock, The Staff (feat. Kirk Whalum) BOA and many others, is a far cry from his humble beginnings as a Music/Radio/TV/Film major in his home town of Dallas/Ft.Worth, Texas. His college education helped develop a serious business savvy, strong songwriting skills and an ear for talent that would soon make him a hot commodity in the highly competitive corporate world. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University, Todd made his way to New York City where he landed one of his first gigs in the Music Clearances Division of ABC News and Sports and later as a Rights and Clearances Negotiator for NBC Television in Burbank. His early experience, plus extensive Music Publishing training with Warner/Chappell in London and Los Angeles, and EMI in Paris and Spain, resulted in the personal supervision and negotiation of over 1000 publishing agreements in over 110 countries worldwide. His expertise quickly led to his becoming a successful entrepreneur, as the head of his own Artist and Business Management firm Modern Management. At Modern, Todd managed a variety of high profile artists, including the world’s most successful/famous musical family acts, The Jackson’s. His stellar job performance subsequently led to a position as senior partner along side Jackie Jackson, at Jackie’s and Todd’s company Swan Song Artist Management in Beverly Hills. Swan Song enabled him the opportunity to hone his skills in the areas of accounting, payroll, taxation, accounts payable/receivable, and budget design and implementation. His competence in all aspects of the music business allowed him to provide accounting services, financial strategy and tour management to internationally known music icons of the highest caliber. The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Madonna, Phil Collins, Sade, Gino Vannelli, Don Henly, and Yanni are just a few names in Todd’s stellar roster of celebrity clientele. Few executives possess the level of diversity that Todd Culberhouse has spent over two decades acquiring. His numerous honors include being listed in Who’s Who in Executive and Professionals and receiving numerous Certificates of Merit from the City of Los Angeles for his humanitarian efforts. The highlight of his achievements was receiving a Grammy Award for his participation in the success of Coolio’s “Gangster’s Paradise,” as well as the 27 Platinum and Gold Album Awards he’s received from projects by a wide array of superstars including Eddie Murphy, Bruce Willis, Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker and the fabulous Whitney Houston. Yet despite these accomplishments, he has never stopped striving for perfection. As the Head of Artists and Repertoire at Pioneer Entertainment (a subsidiary of Pioneer Electronics), Todd has been responsible for the success of the fledgling music audio division, with the signing of artists like CeCe Winans, John Digweed/Bedrock, Peter Frampton, Oleta Adams, Ray Charles, Paul Williams, Dave Mason, Ricky Lawson and many others just to name a few. Todd also runs the day-to-day operations at Pioneer. Some of his current duties include overseeing album production, from graphic design to manufacture, creating and implementing departmental and marketing budgets, forecasting potential sales, acting as the company’s intermediary between them and their numerous distributors as well as supervising the collection of royalties and accounts receivable from clients in Canada, the UK, Japan, Germany and a host of other countries all over the world. With his level of professional knowledge and skills, Todd Culberhouse has truly become a Jack and a Master of all trades. MOVIES, TELEVISION AND LICENSING Todd made his way to New York City where he landed one of his first gigs in the Music Clearances Division of ABC News and Sports in 1984. At ABC, Todd was responsible for all music rights and clearances, contracts which the network needed for both their news and Wide World of Sports divisions, from on-air talent, commercials and special music as needed for each of both divisions from of today’s best known musicians/artists. Later as a Rights and Clearances Negotiator for NBC Television in Burbank, he was responsible for all the rights and clearances in the sitcom and MOW divisions. He had to find the owner of such rights to music and the publishing entities to arrange for on-air broadcasting for all programs with NBC’s realm of programming. His early experience, plus extensive Music Publishing training with Warner/Chappell in London and Los Angeles, and EMI in Paris and Spain, resulted in the personal supervision and negotiation of over 1,000 publishing agreements in over 110 countries worldwide, of which are still in effective to this day. Todd has well-established relationships with several Music Publishers and well as some of the most well know artist’s throughout the world. Working with numerous distributors and Licensees’ as well as supervising the collection of royalties and accounts receivable from clients in Canada, the UK, Japan, Germany and a host of other countries all over the world. Todd was the key person to license over $400,000 just in advance for some of today’s top performers for CD compilations and special products released in several countries. Todd also provided music for such films as “The Calling,” “Ballistic” starring Antonio Banderas, “The Banger Sisters” starring Susan Sarandon and Goldie Hawn. He also provided music for some of today’s top TV programs such as “Touched”By An Angel,” “Homicide, Life on the Streets,” “Boston Public” and “Queer as Folk” for the Showtime Networks. In addition, Todd also placed products from CD’s to CD Posters in such hit films as "Spider Man." Todd’s reputation in the Music Industry is widely known and respected. He has negotiated some of the toughest and most highly paid deals for the placement of songs/music, etc., within these specialized market places, which has garnered him as being one of the most successful and record breaking negotiators for licensee fees being paid for these entities.
